Garage Conversion Costs Explained

From basic room conversions to fully self-contained living spaces, garage conversion costs can vary significantly.

Explore our guide to understand pricing, key cost factors, and potential return on investment.

Assess Your Garage Conversion Options

The right price depends on the type of garage you have, how much structural work is needed, and how you want to use the finished room.

Some homeowners need a simple part conversion that keeps the existing garage door. Others want the garage door removed, a new wall and window installed, and the space fully opened into the house.

Our starting prices below are designed to help you compare your options clearly.

Frequently asked questions.

Our most frequently asked questions.

2026-07-15T08:40:53+00:00

Any building work causes some disruption, but our process is designed around homes that are still being lived in. We keep communication clear, work tidily, and manage the project in a controlled way so that daily life can continue as normally as possible.

2026-07-15T08:40:26+00:00

Yes. A site survey helps us check the structure, access, layout, and any details that could affect the final quote. It also gives you a chance to ask questions before committing to the project.

2026-07-15T08:39:33+00:00

Yes. Our conversions include insulation to Building Regulation standards. Heating options such as electric heaters, underfloor heating, or air conditioning with heat and cool settings can also be discussed, depending on how you want to use the room.

2026-07-15T08:38:35+00:00

Yes. Bathroom, kitchen, and utility room installations can be added to your conversion. These are priced separately because they depend on plumbing, drainage, layout, and the finish you want.

2026-07-15T08:38:06+00:00

Yes. A double garage can often be converted into one large room or divided into separate spaces, such as an office and utility room, gym and storage area, or family room and shower room. We will advise what is practical based on your garage layout.

2026-07-15T08:37:08+00:00

Yes. The prices on this page are shown as starting prices plus VAT.

2026-07-15T08:29:02+00:00

Yes. The garage conversion calculator on this page can give you a more tailored guide based on your project. However, the most accurate quote will come after we assess the garage and understand exactly how you want to use the space.

2026-07-15T08:28:32+00:00

Yes. A single-part garage conversion usually costs less because it involves minimal structural alterations and keeps the existing garage door in place. A full garage conversion involves more work, such as removing the garage door, installing foundations, building a new front wall, and fitting a new window or access point.

2026-07-15T08:28:02+00:00

Our starting prices include the main building, insulation, electrical, and internal finishing work listed under each conversion type. Some items, such as bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, decorating, underfloor heating, internet points, and bifold doors, are treated as add-ons because they depend on the room’s final use.

2026-07-15T08:27:31+00:00

Our garage conversion prices start from £8,500 + VAT for a single-part garage conversion, £12,000 + VAT for a single full garage conversion, and £16,000 + VAT for a double garage conversion. The final cost depends on the structure, layout, access, specification, and any add-ons you choose.
