Questions we're frequently asked at Pro Assist Garage Conversions
Will the garage roof need replacing, and what if it contains asbestos?
Many detached garages have shallow pitched or flat roofs that were never built to sit above a heated room, so the existing structure often needs work before it can carry insulation. Some roofs can be overhauled, others are better replaced, and occasionally raising the roof makes sense where head height is tight or you want a vaulted ceiling. If the covering is asbestos cement sheet, which is common on garages of a certain age, it should not be broken up or disturbed. We arrange safe removal and correct disposal as an Environment Agency registered waste carrier.
