Questions we're frequently asked at Pro Assist Garage Conversions
Do my treatments need registering with the council?
Some do, and trading without registration is an offence. Under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982, councils can require registration for acupuncture, tattooing, cosmetic piercing, semi permanent skin colouring including microblading, and electrolysis. Both you and the premises have to be registered, and the premises are inspected before it is granted, which means the therapy room itself gets inspected. Most hair and beauty work falls outside it, so a hairdresser, nail technician or beautician offering standard services usually has nothing to register. Adoption varies between councils, so check with yours, and tell us early if it applies so we build to the byelaw standards from the start.
